No issues after a year
We purchased this TV on Black Friday 2007. A year later, we're still incredibly happy with our purchase.

HD signals look incredibly. Normal tv signals are still watchable.

I've noticed sometimes with really fast sports that the tv sometimes has trouble keeping up. This is pretty rare and usually with sports that involve fast panning by the camera.

The only other thing I noticed after we got the TV was that commercials are crazy loud. Our old TV I believe had a feature that automatically adjusted the volume level of commercials so they weren't louder than the program. This TV definitely does not have that feature!

Save your money, buy a Sony
I've wanted an HDTV for a long time. Ever since I set my eyes on the crisp picture and vibrant color that high definition had to offer I was determined to have one. So after years of waiting and saving I finally decided I was going to take the plunge. I took the time to do my research and after a month or so of comparing reviews and staring aimlessly at in store floor models I decided that the Sharp Aquos 46 inch LCD HDTV was exactly what I was looking for. After all, it was a quality product that got great reviews at a comparable price, how could I possibly go wrong?

After I bought my television I took it home and carefully unpacked it, plugged it, turned it on and basked in all the glory that Sharp had to offer. For a short time, the relationship was a good one. I came home and it dazzled me with a crisp fluid picture, superior sound, and a full 1080p resolution, I was in love. A whole new world was at my finger tips, Dirty Jobs never looked so dirty, I was totally smitten. Then suddenly without notice, everything changed.

The screen went black and the sound went off. This happened in 20 to 25 minute intervals. Frustrated, I did what every good consumer would do, I called customer support. Naturally they walked me through all the obvious troubleshooting steps, is the TV on? Is the power chord plugged in? Is the sleep timer on? No, no and no. Twenty five wasted Verizon minutes later they decided they were going to send out a tv repair man to resolve the issue. Keep in mind, at this point I'd owned the TV for one month. The repairman determined (on the phone) the problem was the circuit board. How can you determine the solution to a problem without physically diagnosing it? Initially, after the parts were replaced everything went smoothly. The TV, by all accounts, was running full steam...at least for a little while.

Within three days, the screen went black and the sound went off...again. I sat on my couch perplexed, how could Sharp put out such a subpar product? What ever happened to the customers always right? After all I owned the product for little over a month, don't I deserve a new television? I guess not. Suffice to say I'm not happy. Tomorrow I'll call Sharp again, and most likely they'll be sending out ANOTHER repairman to not fix my television. So if I could give you one piece of advice it's this, save your money and by a Sony.

Nice....But, a few issues others failed to mention
Just got this TV yesterday. Was actually shopping for a DVD upconverter. But decided to upgrade the 2 yr old Insignia 32" 720p.
I like the quick/easy approach, so the First thing I noticed when I tried to hook up my surround speakers was that there is no Headphone jack! Even though that is mentioned on Amazon in the description as a feature. So now I hope I can find some type of cable to convert the RCA outputs for My speaker system. I don't expect to upgrade to a new surround setup just for that. If I find any other workaround I'll let you know.
Also I was trying to figure out if I had the latest firmware revision. The manual says to go to Menu/Digital Setup/Identification. Well, how about...this option doesn't exist! So I don't know if I need an update or not. I suppose I have to guess. (I only get the software update option.)
This upscales Std Defn. better than most TVs I have seen, not as grainy. But I am still having a tough time adjusting the greens out of this thing just like the one I noticed in the BB store. I hoped it was just the way they had adjusted theirs. Also, it is amazing how different the video looks based on the source material. For instance, I was watching a News broadcast the first night and they had 2 interviewees on a split screen. It was amazing how degraded and molten one half of the screen looked and the other half looked decent.
Speaking of which, the blacks, yes they are very black, but my picture often looks too black. I have tried adjusting contrast and brightness various ways, but I'll still get a scene where I feel like it's too dark to see the action. No banding yet. Maybe it's just me.
I am planning to try one of those "Digital Video Essentials" DVD's that were mentioned on one of the forums.
One other thing I seldom see mentioned. These make the most AWESOME PC monitors!! I love seeing my photos so large and using MediaPlayer visuals! I don't ever see much info on this type of usage. But that RS232 jack is Gold in my book. It was even amazing on my old 32". But I did expect this newer, higher-end TV to handle a resolution finer than 1024x768. Hope I just missed a setting somewhere. I'll call Cust. Svc. this week and check them out.
Good luck All !

Great tv
Beautiful picture, but then our last "new" tv was 10 years old. Only complaint - it will not pick up most of the current digital stations offered by our local channels. Sharp says the problem is with our antenna, which is not that old.

Very Pleased
The TV is great , the delivery was outstanding and the delivery was on time

Great Picture
I have only used this TV attached to a HD Sat. Great picture right out of the box, I have not changed settings at all.

The sound is adequate for a small room or a quiet environment but I intend to use the optical output to hook it up to my 5.1 sound system. (nice feature!)

It's amazing how light this TV is. Under 30 Pounds? The 27" glass TV this replaced weighs about 70.

great lcd tv
Could not find this model locally. Ordered from Amazon and had it in less than a week. Very happy with the transaction-would buy it again.

Nice TV for the money
This is a very nice TV. I have had this tv since about 7/30/08.

Pro's: The TV has a very good tuner, I was able to hook it to my basic cable with Comast and was able to get about 16 HD channels and 10 or more digital channnels. I haven't tried over the air tuner. HD channels look great, Standard Def channels look good. I have this set up in the bedroom and it works great for this purpose. 720p is all you need in this size of TV. The Favorite channels you can set up are great, on the remote you have favorites a to c and you can set 4 channels under each letter.

Con: Remote has to be pointed directly at the TV but not too bad

Other thoughts: I still haven't hooded this to my Direct TV receiver yet, so I can't comment on how the digital picture looks like from it! Nor have I gamed on it yet. TV does have a game setting and game timer!

If you are in the market for a 32' LCD and want a quality brand name for a good price with plenty of options this is the one for you!

Great TV. Best value for the money spent.
This is my first HDTV (I am an electronics engineer so, it took very long for me to buy one that i like). But this tv blows me off. Great natural colors, no bright and deep colors as in other samsung and toshiba Tvs.

The Menu is simple but even then it gives wide range of adjustments. Don't be attracted by the video reviews of the other TVs given all over the internet about the different options you can change on your TV because you know what, not many people use all those menu items. This has got bunch of inputs to it and it also have a headphone jack. I added my Bose system to this TV and it really gives a great Movie Experience.
The edges can be a little too glossy, but if you are a person who likes to keep the things neat, you will love the gloss.
Very useful menu item as skipping the Inputs makes this more versatile.
16 ( 4 x 4 ) Customizable favourite channels make life a little more easy. I bought this TV for the olympics and the NBC gives a HighDefinition Feed using the regular cable(no HD receiver required to watch some of the channels like NBC, TNT, A&E ) and its absolutely stunning. I also get some digital channels that are great. The audio can be skipped between mono, stereo, surround where available.
This is a tv that can be rated more than 5.
Pros: Everything.. really amazing tv.

I cannot believe you are still reading the review instead of going to the store and buying one. But for those who " have to read " here are the
cons: The Remote has to be really pointed to the receiver which can be a pain somtimes and also the channels skip a little slow, but that doesn't bother me.

note: avoid plasmas they give out toomuch glare.
If you are looking for a tv at this size, it really doesn't make a lot of difference between 720p and 1080p/i. it only matters when you go for a more bigger tvs.

And as an electronics engineer , i can safely say, that Sharp carrys one of the greater tv screens if not BEST.
Hope this review helps.
Please email me with questions. more than happy to reply.

Excellent product
The TV arrived quickly and I love it. Great picture and blu-ray and HD look even better. Couldn't be happier!

Sharp 52" Flat Screen
The television arrived within 5 days. We were very excited when the installation was completed. We hired a local firm to install the television and surround sound. The technician turned on the set and the interior glass was broken, which renders the TV completely useless. We had to box it back up and wait nearly two weeks for the TV to be picked up. I was so frustrated that I purchased the same set from a local vendor. I didn't want to take the chance that another set would be delivered that was broken. I suspect that the television was broken during shipment!Sharp Aquos LC52D64U 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Sharp Aquos LC52D64U
After careful use and adequate shakedown time, I find this LCD TV remarkably great. It is sharp and the visual angels of view are equally great. However, the black shiny plastic bezels is easy to scratch, and cannot be cleaned well due to this fact. Secondly the display is not as bright as it should be. Most images are darker when compared to other LCD screens.

Could be better
Almost all in this TV is right, the only one problem that I can see is the black color "it have not realism" as the others colors, therefore, for the money that paid I think could live with it.

very expensive mistake
Sharp Aquos LC52D64U is horrible, it was delivered 3 weeks ago and I have spent all my tv viewing time since trying to tweak it.
Impossible to get colors right and when you get close on one channel, you invariably have to re-adjust on next channel.
Picture is only clear on up close shots, as soon as video switches to a medium to distant shot , all is out of focus. Same for DVD'S. My old Panosonic 32 inch CRT has 10 times better picture and I have never had to adjust the settings....ever!
Sharp support was no help, they stated that this was a HDTV and I could not expect to get a decent picture on non-HD channels. This is unbelievable, why would anyone buy a TV that you can only watch 6 channels or so, out of 200. Besides the HD channels only are clear on close up shots also, anything else is out of focus.
I will give Sharp one more chance/call and then I will send this item back, as my return window will expite shortly.

Wow
After it arrived, we could not believe the clarity and the quality it presented. We are very pleased with this purchase.

Very nice HDTV but lacks correct info in description.
I like the picture, style, number of inputs and ease of set-up. However, the desciptions of features are the same for each size and they are not correct. I did not even find the correct info on Sharp's web site.
This HDTV was listed as having PIP and a headphone output. Either I am blind or it has neither. This would not have been an issue if I could have seen this size in a store to verify the features but it really is up to the manufacturer to represent their products accurately.
Overall I am happy with the purchase.

A very nice LCD, good remote, good value
I am happy with this Aquos. it has an outstanding picture, as good or better than my 00 Sony XBR5. I am sure the sony must have something more, oh, that is right, the sony uses 400 watts of power, my Sharp uses 120 watts of power. Hmmm. guess the energy star sticker is there for a reason. Only problem is had to get a different wall mount, My New Aquos has a non vesa standard bolt pattern on rear. This is not going to mean anything if you just set it on the stand, but if you plan on wall mounting, be sure to get the universal mount. It has a 440 mm blot pattern.
Cheers

Exceeded my expectations
I have been searching for and HDTV for some time now. I had done all my research, and Sharp Aquos always rose to the top of my list every time. My Sharp Aquos LC37D64U far exceeded my expectations. The picture quality and ease of use is great.

Great picture
The picture is clear and Sharp (pun intended). Product specs were exactly as expected, no surprises. Product arrived two days sooner than quoted.

Greatest HDTV I have ever bought.
This TV is phenomenal, the picture is incredible, it looks great and it's not that heavy. I have my PS3, X-box 360 and Wii all connected to this tv and it's so simple to switch in between them. I also used it as a computer monitor and Oh MY GOD! Counterstrike on a 1920x1080 resolution is insane! Probably the best TV I have ever owned. I also suggest getting 5.1 speakers for this TV because the TV has a problem with bass. It tends to overpower the speakers so get what I got, Logitech 5.1 Z-5500 =Amazing. I highly recommend it and buy it from NEWEGG it's 850 bucks in Total, fast shipping and great service.

Recommended for Nongamers Too
We did not buy this Sharp Aquos because it is a gaming TV, but because we saw it next to TVs in the same price range at one of the electronics chains, and the Sharp picture blew the others away. Even though we knew we would save almost 0 buying the TV online, we were a little nervous about buying from TigerDirect through Amazon. We took the plunge, though, and the TV arrived in a matter of days in perfect condition. The set-up with our HD DVR was a little difficult, and calls to Time Warner weren't much help when the support person insisted the 480i showing on the DVR was the DVR model number. We finally went to Time Warner's Web site and found the information we needed to get the set up to maximum resolution. We have had the TV a couple of months now and are very happy with it. A word to the wise -- if your order with Amazon "suggests" you purchase a Bargaincell HDMI cable for an extra B000NKAYWG.98, pass on it. We ordered the cable, and the audio was nonfunctional.

Good TV
I found one dead pixel on this TV, but I guess if you don't want dead pixels then you have to test it in a shop and buy one in a shop instead of buying it online. I also found that it takes some for the grey-to-black, you can see ghosting effect. Also, consistent with the other reviews, it doesn't come with very good speakers, so better use some external speakers. I game a lot with my PS3 using this TV (the dead pixel still annoys me a lot, I guess when you get a Full HD you kinda demand perfection), and somehow it's harder to see the images when there's a lot of sunlight, requiring me to sit closer (and I have 25/20 vision). Overall, this is a good TV comparing price for price with other brands. With Sharp' new Kameyama state-of-the-art factory though, you'd think that they would have up-ed their quality a bit more.

Sharp Aquos LC32GP1U 32-Inch 1080p LCD Gaming HDTV
This a great tv and the picture quality for HD channels is excellent. I also play my PS3 games with my this tv and I have to say that there is unbelievable sharpness with PS3 games. Overall picture quality and sound are great and the game button on the remote is very convenient. It helps while switching between game and tv programs. Setup was very easy with no hassel at all.

sharp hdtv- stay away from Tiger Direct!
I had to return my tv- it was dead when it arrived. when i phoned sharp, they said it happens all the time with products from Tiger Direct-
STAY AWAY from TIGER DIRECT was their advise and mine!

Above Expectations
Overall this TV was perfect for me. Before I had a 23" Olevia lcd which was also 1080p, but i felt like it was to small. This Sharp fits right into my entertainment center and makes everything look better! The picture quality is amazing. The main use of my TV is for my PS3 and with the quality of picture the TV produces, it is a perfect match. When I first hooked it up the picture was a little weird, but I quickly made adjustments and now the picture is excellent! I would recommend this TV to anyone!!!

WOW
The Sharp Aquos LC32D64U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV is an amazing TV. I could not be happier. The picture on the HD channels is so realistic that I get motion sickness when watching cycling! I can't wait for the winter Olympics! The picture on the regular channels is great. What can I say about the sound? I am hearing sounds that I have never heard from my TV before. When I am in another room (and the TV is on), I have to go into the living room to see what I'm hearing. Buy this TV you will not be sorry.

I was shocked at how fast Electronic Express got this TV to my house. I placed my Amazon order on Sunday 09/28/08 and I had the TV by Wednesday 10/01/08. Thank you Amazon and Electronic Express!

A Crisp Compact LCD TV
This is my second Sharp Aquos LCD TV. The first one was a 30" that required a set top box to drive it. It lasted five years before suddenly failing. This unit, compared to it, has a much sharper picture and the controls are very easy to use. It is super easy to change the aspect ratio and the picture is very crisp and clear with good color balance. I use Dish Net with S-video signal input into the unit. It is also connected to a Sony tuner, Toshiba DVD player/recorder and VHS Tape player To this point I am very happy with the unit but if one fails after warantee period be prepared to pay big bucks for repair. In my case it was cheaper to buy a new set rather than repair my old set top.
